INTERVIEWEE’S VIEW
From the interview, Mr Idzam Yuhaizi chose three solutions and then narrowed them down to one. The first pick was to raise awareness about sexual harassment, his second choice was to set up enquiry centres and lastly, he chose to report any concerns when the victims are feeling uncomfortable to close friends or family. However, he then picks to raise awareness about sexual harassment as the best solution.
This is because the solution will make people take an action when a form of sexual harassment happens. He told us that we can invite a famous person or an influential person as a guest to talk about sexual harassment as they can help to make the awareness program gain more attention. Next, he told us that we can encourage everyone to use their social media as a platform to spread awareness continuously.
Lastly, putting up some slogans on billboards or making a poster also helps because everyone can always see those in public, we can also include numbers to call if anyone would like to make a report. Other than that, he chose this solution because he could not see any disadvantages while performing this solution. Moreover, every individual has the right to decide whether to follow this solution or not, also, this solution is not an act of coercion and would not harm anyone.
GROUP DISCUSSION
On the other side, during our group discussion, we chose to develop an application to report and record the evidence of sexual harassment that is happening since we are in a developing country with new advanced technology as the best solution. We think this solution is the best because no one has ever done this kind of application. Moreover, it is easier to access this application as it is just within our fingertips. Lastly, this application could help everyone to report what happened to them right away after sexual harassment happen.
After comparing Mr Idzam Yuhaizi and our group solutions, we decided that developing an application that specialized in sexual harassment is the best solution. Firstly, anyone could report and record any form of sexual harassment. Next, this application can be upgraded to include any posters about sexual harassment. Moreover, we could make this application a platform where we can perform any solution that has been found previously. For example, instead of setting up enquiry centres to help victims to report sexual harassment, they could just report it in this application. Broadcasts, lectures, campaigns, definitions of sexual harassment, awareness or even company policy about sexual harassment could be included in this one application. Hence, we could reduce the number of sexual harassment cases, reduce the cost to hold a campaign or set up enquiry centres and reduce the usage of papers to produce posters. Therefore, the best solution that we found while learning about this issue is to develop an application just for sexual harassment issues
